I've been a professional poker player for a few years now, and run a poker coaching site, PokerFox.net. A lot of pros specialize in a single game--usually holdem--but I pride myself in my versatility, playing most variations of poker in both cash games and tournaments. I play mostly online at Full Tilt (note the banner), but play live whenever I go to Vegas or when the Canterbury Park Fall Poker Classic comes to town. In 2005, I won the $300 No Limit Holdem event and cashed in the $1000 main event as well. They were the only two events I entered. I played in three in 2006, placing 4th in the limit Holdem event.

I'm retiring my poker blog--too busy with writing, gigs, and PokerFox to update it enough--but for those interested, yet too broke or cheap to shell out the $129.95 for a PFox membership, I will post some occasional info or insight or maybe even a video or two in this section of my site.

BlindStraddle.com PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 02 June 2008

Well, I've joined the evil empire.  I am now a publisher/editor.  Chris Wallace and I have started a brand new online poker magazine called Blind Straddle .  It premiered yesterday, June 1st.  And I'm offering a free month to the first 10 people who use the code ADAMSENTME when they sign up.   We've got articles by Lou Krieger and Bob Ciaffone for those of you familiar with brick-and-mortar players, and articles by Chris and Jennifear for those more familiar with online pros.  We've got some new writers in it as well, along with some lesser known pros who have written for websites like pocketfives and 2+2. I've got a poker short story in it that first appeared in Full House, edited by Pete Hautman, and also a poker-themed crossword that I created.

It was a ton of work putting it all together, buying stories, desiging the site, and of course, making Internet Explorer behave like the other browsers.  But all in all, I'm real happy with what we've accomplished and am already looking forward to putting together next month's issue.

Not a bad day... PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 13 April 2008
Obviously site update not complete yet, but just wanted to post a quick note on a nice little day of poker.  6th in the Gold Ironman freeroll on Full Tilt for $600, half-hour of 8-16 stud hi-lo for @$150, hour of .5-1 PL O8 for $76, and $450 of rakeback paid from last month's play.  Not too shabby for only playing an hour and a half of poker I actually had to pay for.

March PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 25 March 2006
March has been a good month, pokerwise.  I've gotten to three final tables, cutting a three-way deal in one and coming in 2nd and 6th in the others.  I'm hoping to ramp up my participation in MTT's and see if I can garner enough success to get ranked on P5's.  Going to have to ramp it up quite a bit however--like 25 or 30 a week.  But the bankroll's at 11k, so I've got some room to maneuver.

Additionally, the 2/4 6-max No Limit games on FT have been an absolute gold mine.  Been regularly making $400-$1000 in hour or two sessions.  I've also lost $1800 in an afternoon, but that has been the exception, not the rule.  It also helped me examine my game and realize I was calling too much.  I've switched to a game-plan that is ultra aggressive preflop and on the flop, but if somone stays with me that far, I either trap them for their whole stack with a great hand, or try to play it out as cheaply as possible.  Seems to be working well.  Obviously the sample size is pretty small, but I have a great deal of info on my opponents in PokerTracker and the correct moves are usually self-evident.

Heads Up Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 10 March 2006

A short and rather amusing video of me playing heads up with a guy was denigrating my skill level at a lower limit table.  I politely asked him if he wanted to play heads up at a higher limit.  This is what ensued.
