The site was down for a few days till I figured out that I needed to transfer the DNS records. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but it seems its done (thanks to Man Mountain). On a personal front, I finally went to a doctor and got some good news. My hearing is fine. Well, not fine--I have some hearing loss in the upper registers, but I knew that, and nots nearly as bad as it should be after years of gigging. What I did discover is that the testing I had before that seemed to show comprehensional difficulties was simply because it was a portable, uncalibrated machine and didn't compensate for the slight damage. At an audiologist, with a machine set 10db higher than normal, my comprehension is fine. So, I can scratch that one off my list. The writing is going very well. After my Scotland trip, the dam seems to have broken, and after 2 years of severly diminished output, I'm back on track. I've only had three days to write (I've started a new job--5/6 grade soccer coach, and between preparing for that, gigs, and catching up on PFox work, I had very little time) but did 3500 words one day and over 1000 on each of the others. I have writing time slotted for today and tomorrow, so I'll see if the good work continues. I think it will. | | No comments for this item |

A video from my trip to Scotland. Which isn't over yet. Got a few more days left. And when I get back I'm going to be working hard. Got 3 gigs a day for two days at the State Fair, plus appearances on Channel 9 and WCCO. A ton of other gigs coming up, plus speaking at the Iowa SCBWI conference and starting my new job as the 5th and 6th grade soccer coach at my daughter's school. Whew. I've updated the calendar , so have a look. | | No comments for this item |

Just got an email from the publisher of Paradox, a historical and speculative fiction magazine I've had a couple stories published in. Apparently my story, "Kitsune," got an honorable mention in Gardner Dozois's 24th Annual Year's Best Science Fiction, an anthology devoted to short fiction published in 2006. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased. Additionally, I went over the copyedit of Steward of Song and sent it in. I'm always excited as things roll toward actual publication. The wee germ of an idea I had a year or two ago is going to be an honest-to-god book! Again! It still amazes me when it happens, and I hope that it still will many years from now. Seeing as how my mother seems as amazed that she wrote and got published book number two-hundred and eighty(or whatever she's up to) as she was with book number one, ten, or twenty, I assume I will continue to be joyful and astonished. | | No comments for this item |

One of the tunes Elizabeth Hall and I recorded a while ago. Too many other projects and too little time spelled the end of our project, but I'm hoping to get back in the studio with her again. Should be uploading another one soon. Keg of Brandy.mp3 | | No comments for this item |
